"Anything you say can and will be held against you."
"You will be judged by a Jury of your peers!"
"You are innocent until proven guilty!"
Little phrases in life often drift by us, or we feel they must be for someone else. We assume it isn't us, it can't be me or it must be one of "those" people. We judge everyone and have gotten to the point many people constantly feel judged. We don't take the time "to walk a mile in their shoes!" We are so worried what other people think of us that we automatically deflect our feelings of guilt, inadequacy, misunderstanding and shame onto others. We don't look inward to see why we feel that way and we rarely try to understand someone else's situation. For that matter we rarely stand face to face with someone that we are judging. We all want to be the Judge and Jury, but never the executioner.
How have we come to this place? How do we change? How do we better ourselves and those around us?
The funny thing is not much has changed, society has always had these problems! Unfortunately what use to be chatter around a coffee table or water cooler is now posted everywhere! People don't have to wonder what people are thinking, people post it in one way or another, sometimes it's direct, sometimes it is a back handed complement, sometimes it's an attempt to boost one's own ego that shatters another's.
So let's all slow down, and remember to lend a hand, lend an ear. Take the time to understand someone, to feel for them and be there for them! The best way to boost your ego is to help someone else, to know that you have been a step up instead of a strike against. Understand what your words mean, remember there are people out there, people that feel, that love and that hurt. Take the time to give someone a hug, take a friend for coffee and listen to what they have to say. Pick the phone up and call someone who may need you or miss you. Remember to love and be loved!
